As they entered, she gave a bright smile and waved-- but then he bowed, and she found herself pretty stumped.

N-Not because he's so pretty, o-or anything!

Refocusing her mind and ignoring the heat in her cheeks, she laughs and it betrays her attempt at hiding her nerves.

"Hello there. I'm um, I'm Francie. The uh, the gym leader."

Super confident sounding, he's bound to think she's serious, totally.

"Right this way, Remiel!" Francie waves a hand toward a door, which she heads toward, leaving her lycanrocs to nap in the reception area. "It's a one on one with a single pokemon, right?"

She double checks while opening the door that would lead them through the short cut through the maze, to the area. A few twists and turns and a door awaits them, leading out into the large battle area in the center of the maze.

[attr="class","witness"]As the umbreon, who was too cute, bounced forward, Francie tossed out her heavy ball and revealed the small aron, Ron, that had been tucked on her side. She released Harry, the twin to Ron, and allowed him a seat beside her to watch the battle. Harry often fretted over Ron, which Francie understood because Ron was very reckless.

"Let's get this started then! Ron! Concentrate!"

One word commands worked best for the little aron, whose body began glowing with a metal burst. Due to the fact that it was so slow though, it would definitely hit after whatever the umbreon planned, if the umbreon made a move against the aron, metal burst would release afterwards.

[attr="class","witness"]The moment Remiel had let out his command, Francie jolted her hands up to her ears and winced. The metal burst didn't work, and she knew now, that Remiel was familiar with the move which meant familiar with the pokemon itself.

Ron's high defense would be easily countered by the umbreon's high stamina, which had Francie smirking as she lowered her hands. It was time to get serious.

"Good to see we've got ourselves a decent challenge, Ron. Let's go! Unleash!"

Quickly, as an aron could go really, that tiny body started to glow as it ran toward the umbreon. With a leap into the air, thanks to that glowing bit, the aron had every intention of giving the shiny blue umbreon a heavy slam in return for that blood hurtling screech just a bit ago.

[attr="class","witness"]The moment the attack was called out, Francie was beaming. It was so great to see a trainer with such a versatile moveset on a pokemon! She was finding that a lot more people were preparing for the lack of dual types by using moves that were strong against her type. It meant the attacks weren't nearly as strong as a dark type attack would have been, but at the same time, that screech took care of that.

As her aron was hit by the mud, Francie knew by the aron's cry that the battle was over. She returned her aron, while making her way through the battle field and over toward Remiel and his shiny umbreon... Salem, wasn't it?

"Remiel Calcifet, congratulations on your win."

There is no malice in Francie's tone. For a gym leader, it was typical for her to lose battles since all of her information was given out and trainers trained and prepared their teams to be geared toward winning.

Taking out a case from her pocket, Francie lifts the lid to reveal a Stone Badge sitting on a small cushion of velvet material.

"For your quick thinking, and wonderful strategy, I present to you the Stone Badge. You both did a wonderful job, and I wish you the best in the rest of your journey through life."
